Today something really weird happened when I turned on my ps3 by controller (super slim model). The fan test activated itself. I just pressed the PS button to turn it on, and after a few seconds it did the fan test. It didn't turn on. Plugged in but no led light lit. I thought it died. My understanding is that you can run OtherOS++ (the OtherOS hack) on the slim models but normal distros like Fedora or Debian still won't install (somebody plz correct me if I'm wrong). Either way you will need a PS3 that will accept custom firmware. If running OtherOS++ your only Linux options are T2 and Red Ribbon (again, correct me if wrong).
